The Mulberry RiverWalk, located along the Mulberry River north of Interstate 85, is one of Braselton’s most popular outdoor destinations. Several years ago, the Town acquired over 200 acres along the river, recognizing the importance of protecting the Mulberry River, a vital drinking water source for the community. The 4.4-mile round-trip trail follows the Mulberry River and is an easy, dog-friendly path with minimal elevation changes. In commitment to preserving the river's purity as a vital drinking water source, the trail abstains from chemicals and non-natural materials. The RiverWalk offers: New signage at the parking lot entrance, trailhead, and along the trail Free public parking at the trailhead: 940 Liberty Church Road A crushed slate trail to reduce erosion and mud, creating a safer and more enjoyable path Additional benches for visitor use An art installation donated by sculptor Brian Seay A monument and small rest area at the point where all four of Braselton’s counties—Barrow, Gwinnett, Hall, and Jackson—meet. Hours: Daily, Sunrise to Sunset Please note: There are no public restrooms available at the Mulberry Riverwalk. The crushed slate path is soft and may be challenging for bikes and wheelchairs. Leashed dogs are welcome along the trail. Owners must remove waste. The Town encourages community involvement. < Back to Welcome Center Sheila Hughey Handmade Jewelry Handmade Jewelry Sheila Hugey began showing artistic abilities at a young age while still living in Michigan. She took oil painting lessons from a private teacher and advanced to taking drawing and painting classes at Oakland Community Collage. In 1973, she moved to Georgia and was still painting. In the 1980s, she attended Georgia State University to study art. She was advised by her professors that her strong points were two- and three-dimensional design, though she didn't pursue the direction until the 1990s, when her cousin sent her a beaded amulet bag from Ireland. That brought out her desire to create with beads and make jewelry. Sheila took several weeklong courses at the William Holland Lapidary School, including silversmithing, and also haunted bead stores and found one that offered Wednesday night and Saturday get-togethers to bead beautiful jewelry. There were several bead artists that also did wire wrap jewelry and she was off to her next learning experience, bringing the two- and three-dimensional design to life. Sheila has taught beading and wire wrapping for many years since then, and loves making a different style of design in each piece she creates.
