Pet Festival Comes to Downtown Braselton

Tails will be wagging when Braselton digs in for its 6th annual Pooches in the Park on Saturday, Sept. 25 and Sunday, Sept. 26. Plan to bring the entire pack (dogs, kids, friends, etc.) to Downtown Braselton. There will be plenty of activities at Saturday's festival, including contests, a lure course, marketplace, and Instaworthy photo stops! Dixie DockDogs will be splashing down near the tennis courts for two full days of scheduled competitions in world class competitive distance-jumping.


Event Schedule

SATURDAY, SEPT. 25, 9:00 A.M. - 5 P.M. EDT

  • Dixie DockDogs - These diving dogs will compete for the highest and longest jumps into a pool of water to retrieve their favorite toy. Diving is an exciting and easy sport to enjoy with your dog. Join the fun or be entertained by their amazing feats! Hourly competitions start at 9 a.m. (Full schedule and registration info)

  • Rover on Over Marketplace - From 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., sniff out some fun new accessories for Fido or meet some local pooch service providers such as vets, groomers and boarders.

  • Howl About Some Contests - The festival will feature a variety of fun, free contests. Stop by the Bone Yard in the park to sign up. Space is limited and prizes will be awarded.

  • 10 a.m. – Pup Strut Costume Contest

  • 1 p.m. – Longest Kiss Contest, Best Pet Trick Contest, Balancing Act Contest

  • Run Over to the Lure Course – Fast-paced and fun to watch, dogs chase a mechanized, plastic lure around the course. Come watch the excitement or have your pup give it a try for a small donation benefiting the Humane Society of Jackson County.

  • Alexanderhof Training Presentation - The instructors at Alexanderhof Training Academy will showcase their award-winning pupils in a demonstration at 11 a.m. They have trained hundreds of dogs and over 60 different breeds throughout different stages, from puppies to adult, both small and large.

  • Wolf Down Some Treats – There will be plenty of treats for the pups and your human pack. Downtown restaurants have pet-friendly patio dining. (Map of downtown businesses.)

SUNDAY, SEPT. 26, 10:00 A.M. - 5 P.M. EDT

  • Dixie DockDogs - Competitions continue on Sunday, with finals beginning at 2 p.m. for Speed Retrieve, 3:30 p.m. for Youth, and 4 p.m. for Big Air. (Full schedule)


Event Tips

  • Pooches in the Park is a family friendly event. All dogs must be on leash and play well with others.

  • Accidents doo doo happen – when your dog does his business, remember to do yours and pick it up!

  • This is a rain or shine event. We will only cancel if the local authorities deem weather conditions to be too dangerous to be outside.
